Book Circle week 16 - Discussion leader

Week 16:
Discussion leader:
 1.  What was the most exit exiting thing that happened in these chapters this week? (My answer: For me I think it was to follow the journey with Stanley and Zeros way up to the big thumb. I think it's interesting to see if they will make it and how it's going to end).

2. Why is Zero feeling sick all the time? (My answer: I think it's because he ate those old preserved peaches that he found. Stanley ate one as well but Zero ate a lot more than him).

3. Do you think they will make it, or are they near the end? ( My answer: I think they will make it, it's isn't going to be fun if they don't, Stanley is the main character and if something happens to him I don't think that the book could continue. But there is still a chance for them to not make it. Zero is really sick and Stanley is going to give up soon if they don't find more water or reach the big thumb. Maybe a miracle will happen and somehow they will get back safe and sound. I think the story about Kiss'n Kate and Sam is going to be involved).

4. How is the story about kiss'n Kate Barlow and Sam connected to Stanley and Zero? Did you find any traces? (My answer: they find a lot of things from the story that they don't have a clue about. For example the boat with the name "Mary Lou" engraved in it, the preserved peaches and the onions).

5. In what way does the onions help Zero? (My answer: Way back, in the old days about 110 years ago on camp green lake there was a onion man called Sam. And as we all know he didn't only sell his raw onions, he used them to make different kinds of tonic. This tonic actually saved a little girls life back in the days, so that's maybe the reason of why Zero does feel better after eating the raw onions).

6. Do you think Stanley did right thing when he ran away from camp? Why/why not? (My answer: Yes I think he did the right thing, is it wasn't for him Zero would have been dead by now, and I think this only shows how much friendships is important. Another thing is that I thought it made the whole story a lot more interesting, before this you did kinda only read about him digging holes, but now something actually happened and I think that's good. And I didn't really like how they only left Zero to be just because he didn't belong anywhere. That wasn't so nice of them, but a least Stanley cared. I also think he got bored of being at the camp too).

7. " I took your shoes" said Zero. What did he mean when he said that? (My answer: It means that Zero was the one who stole Clyde Livingston's shoes that day when Stanley got arrested for it).
